'Cendol Sedap di Johor Bahru'
“This week, I will bring you to eating place of the most unique and special
Cendol in Johor, famous and it is the....”
The raining season now is going to end out. Today, the weather is quite hot and can’t withstand the scorching heat. I want to go out to the streets to enjoy the scenery outside taking fresh air. Sometime I feel too boring staying at home and try to find something fun to do rather than just staying at home. Last week I had the opportunity to go for a ride at Majidee to release my boring. I feel tempted to eat ‘cendol’ (green noodle with coconut milk, brown sugar and variety of topping). Some say the ‘cendol’ is delicious down here. For ‘cendol’ fans can even try this delicious dish in Cendol House restaurant located at Majidee, Johor area.
Actually this is the first time I ate ‘cendol’ here. I used to eat in the restaurants nearby Fire Station, Larkin. The situation is unique because it stores established using wooden poles and thatched with ‘nipah’ leave for the roof only. Dining in an open concept will make customers feel comfortable with the wind blow that really relieve from the heat of the sunny day that is very hot outside.
The decoration is fairly easy to this shop by placing real ‘tempua’ bird cages at the end of the roof makes it attractive to people who are looked at it. The restaurant is built adjoining to the house edge of the owner of the Cendol House.
Traffic at the front road is quite busy and surrounded by lot house area. Hence, there is a bit less comfortable for car parking space that is relatively so small area to park the vehicle. The shop is located in a residential area just beside the four junction make the conditions is quite crowded at peak hours. But there is no serious problem for motorcyclists like me that we can park at any empty space.
There are several of topping provided for the ‘cendol’ here make it become a favored by many customers such as’Cendol with bean’, ‘Cendol with Corn’, ‘Cendol with pulut (sticky rice)’, and others more.
Today I want to taste their ‘Cendol with Sticky Rice and Extra Corn, and did not forget my favorite red beans. I do not like fried beans that been eating with the ice. When I want to eat fried beans, usually I the fried beans must always be eaten with just that, fried beans mixed with fried ‘sambal ikan bilis’ or with ‘mee soto’.
The ‘Cendol House’ is not only selling cendol but includes a variety of pastries are also sold here, including fried banana, noodle, ‘rojak’ and many others. In addition, there is another special menu at this store that is ‘Soto Noodle (mee soto)’. The stomach was already feeling hungry, so I order ‘mee soto’ for my lunch.
The ‘mee soto’ dish was very tasty and much more delicious when combined with a hearty chili black sauce.
The most interesting of these shop is we do not have to wait long to eat since most of the food here is readily available such as mee goreng and nasi lemak that is sell in a wrap, take it and just wait up for the ‘Cendol” to arrive in a while. In my opinion, the ‘cendol’ is quite simple here because the coconut milk is not too fat and not too less, and it is suitable by several of age groups.
Prices offered by this store is reasonable enough especially for those with families because they only charge you MYR2.00 for the ‘Special Cendol’ and MYR2.00 for the ‘Nasi Lemak’ or ‘fried Noodle’ here.
